We have created a mailing list for ARCC using Google Groups. Mailing lists are different from discussion groups like RCGroups or RunRyder. In a mailing list, all of the group communication normally occurs via email. To post a new message, you just send an email to the group email address, arcconline@googlegroups.com. Posted messages are automatically sent to all the list members, including the email address you used to sign up.

A Google account is not required to sign up via this web page or to participate in the mailing list in the manner I just described. Google also provides an archive of all posted messages. Since our group is public, searching the message archive can be done by anyone, with or without a Google account.

There is some additional functionality that Google provides through the group's web interface at http://groups.google.com/group/arcconline that requires having a free Google account. This includes changing your subscription settings, accessing restricted group files, and posting messages via the web interface. Most list members have no need to create a Google account.

A mailing list like this is perfect for receiving club meeting announcements and other timely notices, such as for flying events. It's also a great way to sell or give away an R/C related item.
