June Meeting Notes:
- Daniel announced this month’s indoor flying events (Updated above on this page)
- Ron Montoya had the annual raffle tickets available for members. ARCC will award the member who sells the most tickets a $100 gift card.
- Hat pins that were sold in the May meeting should be available by the end of the week
- Ray reviewed his treasurer’s report. A balance of $3357 and $106.16 expenditures for the month split between ARCC and RMFM
- Erwin Hellman talked about the importance of a spotter when we fly, and the importance of reminding fellow pilots to follow safe flying rules
- Tim was a new pilot visiting the meeting. He had started with a park flyer RTF and was looking for a new aircraft to keep him going. Brett gave him contact information
as an instructor and talked to him about the club trainer.
- filled in announcing that ADO is the only city park approved for flying. Balloon Fiesta Park is open to flyers by invitation only.
- Chuck announced that the Competition Fun Fly will be on the last weekend in July. There will be beginner, open, Magic, and helicopter classes for one single entry fee.
- Kirk Hooper won the lotto, and used the $40 to pay his 2010 ARCC dues
- Dave won the Twist 50 ARF in the monthly raffle. We spent $127 on the plane but only took in $77 because of the low turnout.
- Daniel talked a bit about the aircraft donations by long time RC pilot John Adair toe ARCC, RMFM and the Albuquerque Sailplane clubs.
- Hobby Proz announced that they will deliver products within a 30 minute driving radius for a $3 delivery charge.
- Brian showed his Patriot airplane with its OS-46 and tune pipe. Chuck showed his Sam Rai racing airplane, which is a prototype for the Quickee 500 racing class.
It will compete with the current top-ranking Vortex. The plane has a laminar flow airfoil made of fiberglass, with the new Jet racing engine using a 8 ¾ by 9 ¾ prop.
The motor turns 20100 on the ground and about 24000 in the air and will do 170 mph on a closed course. The kits can be pre-ordered for $450 with two colors.
- Stan gave a great presentation on the history of RC.
